Trunnion-mounted rotary tables allow existing users of CNC machining centres to take 'first steps' into multi-axis machining without having to make a capital outlay for new machine tools For many people the mention of 5-axis machining conjures up pictures of complex surfaces, aircraft components and impeller blades, produced by expensive dedicated machine tools coupled to 3D CAM systems outputting multi-megabyte CNC code files

Trunnion table converts M-C into five-axis unit
A standalone trunnion table, which can can be interfaced to virtually any CNC control system to convert a CNC Machining Centre into a full 5-axis machine will be shown at an Open Day event.
Seminars promote 5-axis machining for SMEs
Recent developments have made 5-axis machining a realistic option for smaller toolmakers and other subcontractors to increase productivity, improve quality and reduce delivery times.
However, Haas Automation, builder of benchmark rotary products for nearly two decades, has introduced another series of high-productivity solutions: the 160, 210 and 310 Trunnion Rotary Tables, which allow existing users of CNC machining centres to take first steps into multi-axis machining without the capital outlay of new machine tools.
Bolt one of these dual-axis tables onto your three-axis machining centre, and you have five-axis motion.
With travels of +/-120 deg of tilt on the A-axis and 360 deg of rotation on the B-axis, the Haas trunnion tables can position workpieces to almost any angle.

Toolroom lathes work manually or CNC
Toolroom lathes ease the transition from manual to CNC machines by offering the choice of standard handwheel operation or total CNC functions in a versatile, easy-to-use unit.
The units have platter sizes of 160mm, 210mm and 310mm respectively.
The trunnion tables can be interfaced to virtually any CNC control system either via external M-code output from the host control, or where required the units can be fitted with customer specific motors to provide a fully integrated 5-axis positioning and machining system.
As with all Haas rotary products, when paired with the powerful Haas servo control, these rugged, versatile tables can be used on any machine and can be moved from one machine to another when production requirements dictate, and simple control connections via industry standard plugs mean the new host machine is rapidly configured for the work in hand.
Indexing accuracy is within 15 arc sec, repeatability to 10 arc sec, and programmable resolution to 0.001 deg.
This performance coupled with speeds up to 60 deg/s and load capacity up to 227kg provides a flexible alternative to conventional multiple setup machining methods.
Six T-slots, equally spaced at 60 deg, provide easy fixturing.
Like every Haas product, the trunnion tables are built from top-quality materials and to exacting specifications, to provide the exceptional accuracy Haas is known for.
