Heavy duty vertical machining centre is
compact
Vertical machining centre with extended Y-axis, a 1015 x 660 x 635mm work envelope, 50-taper spindle and small footprint, provides heavy-duty metal cutting capability.
To meet the needs of shops requiring a vertical machining centre having a heavy-duty cutting capability using a 50-taper spindle in a small footprint, Haas Automation has introduced its VF-3YT/50 The vertical machining center (VMC) has an extended Y-axis travel and is said to be the most compact 50-taper VMC ever built by Haas

Seminars promote 5-axis machining for SMEs
Recent developments have made 5-axis machining a realistic option for smaller toolmakers and other subcontractors to increase productivity, improve quality and reduce delivery times.
* Larger working envelope - the VF-3YT/50 features a 1015 x 660 x 635mm work envelope - an increase of 152mm over the standard Haas VF-3 - and a 1320 x 585mm table.
The extended Y-axis travel is achieved through a larger base casting, yet the new machine retains a footprint only slightly larger than the standard VF-3, said Haas.
Heavy cast-iron construction provides the rigidity and stability necessary for heavy cutting, and the wide T-slot table provides plenty of room for fixturing and large parts.
Like all Haas 50-taper VMCs, the VF-3YT/50 has as standard a 30-pocket side-mount tool changer and a 22.4kW, 7500 rev/min, geared-head spindle system that delivers up to 610Nm of torque.
Standard features also include the following.
* An automatic chip auger.
* Programmable coolant nozzle.
* A 38 cm color LCD monitor with USB port.
* Remote jog handle.
* Haas Visual Quick Code programming system.
A large selection of high productivity options are available to tailor the VF-3YT/50 to the specific needs of each shop, said Haas to manufacturingtalk.com.
Options include the following.
* A 10,000 rev/min spindle.
A 69 bar through-spindle coolant system * High-speed machining software with full look-ahead function.
* An automatic air gun.
* Automatic doors.
* A hard disk with Ethernet interface.
The VF-3YT/50 continues the Haas tradition of building high performance machine tools at affordable prices.
It has the power of a large machine to easily cut stainless steel, cast iron and hard alloys, yet it takes up little space on the shop floor.
And because the VF-3YT/50 is built by Haas, it is backed by a worldwide network of Haas Factory Outlets that provide the best service and support in the industry.
