Hollow shaft servo actuators are compact
A range of compact, hollow shaft servo actuators are designed to offer exceptionally high levels of transmission accuracy and acceleration torque.
Harmonic Drive, the leading European manufacturer of precision gears and actuators, has launched a new range of compact, hollow shaft servo actuators that are designed to offer exceptionally high levels of transmission accuracy and acceleration torque.
Called the CHA Series, the new servo actuators are the first of their type to combine specially developed and integrated AC servo motors and harmonic drive gear sets, with hollow shafts for routing cabling, pipes, spindles or even laser beams through the centre of each unit.
The new CHA servo actuators have been developed for use in high performance positioning and motion control applications throughout industry, ranging from machine tools and robotics systems, to medical and optical equipment.
In each case, CHA servo actuators can provide from 56 to 1180Nm of output torque and a transmission accuracy down to just 30 arc seconds, with repeatability of +/-6 arc.
Levels of accuracy and repeatability are further enhanced by the use of a specially developed four-point output bearing, which will withstand high axial and radial forces, plus high tilting moments.
This bearing effectively improves still further the ability of the internal reduction gearing to handle high external loads and helps to prolong operating life and minimise maintenance; in addition, in many applications it eliminates the need for an extra bearing or mounting flange when connecting the servo actuator to other equipment.
The new CHA servo actuators also feature integrated and pre-wired sinusoidal output encoders and are compatible with all standard digital servo controllers, for sine/cosine motor feedback systems, from leading European and US suppliers.
Installation, connection and setup is therefore quick and simple.
