Training courses for PLC and motion control
Hayes Control Systems are offering training courses for Beckhoff products based on TwinCAT IEC61131 software, covering PLC, Motion Control and linking data to third party MS Windows applications.
The new Beckhoff control panels, for which Hayes Control Systems is the exclusive UK distributor, have an IP65 protection rating, allowing them to be installed in the most demanding industrial environments.
They are available with 10in, 12in or 15in colour TFT displays, and are also offered in touch-screen versions.
Additional options include touch pads and membrane keyboards, and all models provide facilities for the connection of external devices, such as standard keyboards, mice and barcode scanners.

PC and PLC form a DIN rail unit
With the CX series of Embedded PCs, Beckhoff has combined PC technology and modular I/O level to form a DIN rail unit in the control cabinet.
Information for the control panel display is carried by a DVI (digital video interface) connection to the PC, while information from the keypads and other input devices is conveyed by a USB link.
This arrangement provides excellent performance, but requires no special interface cards or cables, provided that the PC is equipped with a graphics card, such as the Matrox Millennium G450, which supports the DVI standard.
The elimination of special cards and cables makes this approach very cost-effective where control panel-to-PC links of five metres or less are needed.
For applications where the distance between the control panel and the PC exceeds five metres, Hayes Control Systems offers the alternative of CP-Link technology.
This operates via two co-axial cables which carry all of the signals between the control panel and the PC, as well as providing power for the panel.
CP-Link technology uses a special interface card to provide connections with speeds in the gigabit range, and can be used for links up to 65 metres in length.
Beckhoff control panels from Hayes Control Systems, which use DVI/USB connections, are intended for use with the Windows 2000 operating system, while CP-Link equipped panels can be used with Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0 or DOS.
Versions for Windows 98 and Windows ME are available to special order.
Hayes Control Systems is the leading UK expert in the design and supply of complete automation solutions based on open-architecture PC technology.
The company is the exclusive UK distributor for Beckhoff in Germany, whose products include fieldbus-independent input/output systems, industrial PCs, and soft programmable controllers which use standard PC hardware, and which can also provide sophisticated motion control functions.
In all of its product areas, Hayes Control Systems champions an open-systems approach, which avoids the technical limitations, high costs and restricted availability associated with proprietary equipment.
