Surface engineering company names finance director

Hardide, a provider of unique surface engineering technology, has appointed its former financial controller Peter Davenport as finance director and a board director.

Hardide plc (AIM:HDD), the provider of unique surface engineering technology, has appointed Peter Davenport (39) as finance director and a board director.

He has been financial controller of the Company since June 2005.

Davenport has more than ten years' experience in financial management.

Prior to joining Hardide he was a financial controller at the UK subsidiary of NYSE-listed global coatings company Valspar Corporation for almost three years.

A graduate of Oxford University, he previously held management accountant and analyst posts in the Operations Sector at Parcelforce Worldwide.

He is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Welcoming the appointment, Jim Murray-Smith, chief executive officer of Hardide commented: "Peter has made a tremendous contribution to the growth of Hardide over the last nine months and his appointment to the Board will facilitate our ambitious UK and international expansion plans." Oxfordshire-based Hardide applies tungsten carbide coatings by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) to a wide range of steel, alloy and other material components.

The patented technology uniquely combines abrasion and corrosion resistance in one coating and is proven to offer dramatic cost savings through reduced downtime and extended component life across sectors including oil and gas, aerospace, valve and pump manufacture.

The Company floated on AIM in April 2005 and has a market cap of GBP 19.78 million.

Hardide is currently setting up its first international manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas.

The 17,000ft2 facility represents a $5 million investment and is currently under construction.
