Short magazine bar feed unit shows
abilities
A short magazine bar feed unit will demonstrate its ability to accurately place bar in a lathe and show its flexibility when the job demands several feeds on the same part.
Hydrafeed will be using a mock twin spindle turning centre at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition to highlight the productivity and automation potential the company can bring to turning centres The manufacturer of barfeeding equipment for turning centres will show a selection of new products for the first time at MACH that will engage users of all types of turning centres

Bar stacker ups short bar feeders capacity by 10X
A multi bar stacking device allows CNC Lathe users to increase the magazine capacity of their Multifeed Short CNC Magazine Barfeed by up to 10 times the standard capacity.
Device unloads long parts through second spindle
Bar device efficiently unloads components that are too long to be caught in standard parts catchers, but require removal through the bore of the secondary spindle in twin spindle CNC lathes.
* productivity benefits - the mock lathe will give lathe users an opportunity to view the potential productivity benefits Hydrafeed can bring to turning centres.
On the barfeed side of the lathe will be the MultiServo 3-80 short magazine bar feed unit.
The Multiservo will demonstrate its ability to accurately place bar in the lathe and show its flexibility when the job demands several feeds on the same part.
* Part unloader - at the other end of the mock lathe will be the X-Tract CNC automatic part unloader.
Developed to safely and efficiently unload parts too long to be caught in standard part catchers, the X-Tract unit removes parts through the sub-spindle of twin spindle machines and can accommodate 1.5m bar lengths.
The unit can be configured to handle longer bars if required.
The X-Tract will be highlighting HydraFeed's ability to 'soft handle' parts to remove labour from high specification turning centres as well as improve the quality of the finished part.
The X-Tract and MultiServo will combine to demonstrate how HydraFeed can assist prolonged unmanned running of turning centres by loading and removing the part from the machining envelope.
* Part accumulator - complimenting the load and unload process will be the new Rota-Rack rotary part accumulator.
The patented part accumulator for collecting components from CNC lathes enables the turning centre to run unmanned for extended periods, said Hydrafeed to manufacturingtalk.com, whilst eliminating part damage.
Suited to limited space environments the compact accumulator can be set at the left or right side of the machine and accommodates part diameters up to 76mm and 254mm long.
These innovations will appear at MACH 2008 alongside Hydrafeed's established products such as the MultiFeed MX1B system.
* Hydrafeed at MACH 2008, NEC, Birmingham, UK, April 21-25, Hall 5, Stand 5482.
