Compact probe clears swarf to check job

Touch trigger probe is particularly suited to limited working space and incorporates three nozzles, which remove swarf or other contamination from the area being probed.

With a diameter of 49mm and length of 63mm, the TS440 touch trigger probe is particularly suited to applications with limited working space The TS440 is designed to complement the TS640, which has found applications on a wide range of Heidenhain TNC controlled machines

Like the TS640, the TS440 incorporates three nozzles, which allow through-tool coolant or air blast to be fed through the probe body to remove swarf or other contamination from the area being probed.

This saves time and enables unattended, automated measuring cycles to be performed.

The TS440 transmits the trigger signal via infrared beam to the SE640 transmitter-receiver.

The LEDs and receiver modules responsible for the infrared transmission are arranged evenly around the circumference of the TS440, permitting a 360 deg transmission range of 3m.

Furthermore, in conjunction with the new SE540 transmitter/receiver unit, which is mounted in the spindle head, the TS440 can also be used on large machines where transmission range could otherwise be a problem.

3D touch probes are ideal for quick and exact workpiece alignment as well as for automated workpiece measurement on the machine.

Heidenhain TNC controls offer numerous probing cycles to automatically compensate for workpiece misalignment, set datum from a known feature or measure common geometries such as bore holes, rectangular pockets, circular pockets, slots, studs, bolt hole circles and planes.
