Free 3rd axis offered on Heidenhain DROs

To help machine operators get the best out of their manual machine tools Heidenhain has decided to offer the 3rd axis of any new DRO system ordered during June and July, free of charge.

To help machine operators get the best out of their manual machine tools Heidenhain has decided to offer the 3rd axis of any new DRO system ordered during June and July, free of charge Traditionally UK users have retrofitted digital readouts (DROs) on the X and Y axis of mills and X and Z (diameters and length) on lathes

This is unlike our European counterparts who have long used 3-axis DROs as the norm.

Stuart Jenkins of Heidenhain comments; "DRO on the quill or knee or both, of a turret mill really does make the machine more friendly to use and makes milling to depths as easy as positioning in the X and Y axes".

"Quill and Knee movements can also be summed in our POSITIP 880 display to ensure you always know where the tool tip is." On lathes a third axis linear encoder on the compound slide, and 3-axis display, is essential if operators are using the compound slide for fine positioning.

Jenkins adds; "The length position is lost if an operator uses his saddle with readout for coarse position then the topslide and vernier dial for fine positioning". Request a free brochure from Heidenhain (GB) ...

"In our modern 3-axis lathe displays the saddle and compound slide movements can be summed and shown in one display or left to show the individual Z and Z1 axes." The free third axis offer is available to UK endusers during June and July through Heidenhain (GB)'s UK Retrofit Distributor network.
