Tube labelling machine order illustrates trend
An ongoing industry trend is towards labelling tubes as opposed to using pre-decorated tubes; a trend that has been evident since the arrival of bespoke tube labelling machines.
But Morrison's use a special Windows font, Barmeno, which they wanted on their labels.
So Simms and Woods appealed to their equipment suppliers, Herbert Industrial, to help them out.
The only problem was that the job had to be completed within 24 hours.
Graham Flitton, Herbert's Production Manager, takes up the story: "We had just a day to turn everything around - adapting one of our Gemini weigh price labellers for the leek packs and enabling it to print the labels in the right font".
"But we had the whole system installed in the customer's premises on time and that's a real tribute to our team here." Herbert's Product Manager Graham Dorney agrees.
"Some parts had to be fabricated that day".
"We set the machine up and the customer came over with his box of leeks to test it".
"We were in fax contact with Morrison's to make sure the labels were what they wanted and then we had a trial on the 'race track' and everything went as sweet as a nut." So Simms and Woods got their leek labelling and packing machine the next day - a Saturday - and are clearly delighted".
""The team at Herbert Industrial did a fantastic job".
"I can't praise them enough," said James Massingham.
