HMCs now feature easy-to-use CNC system
Horizontal machining centres now feature the easy to use Siemens Sinumerik Shopmill control, giving users even greater productivity, easier operation, and better piece part costs.
The Heller MC12 horizontal machining centre is now available with the easy to use, and very popular, Siemens Sinumerik Shopmill control, giving even greater productivity, easier operation, and better piece part costs Conversational programming of the Shopmill control is very simple even for operators with virtually no CNC experience, minimizing set up times

Fast HMC to get through automotive volumes
a fast, versatile HMC, developed primarily for higher volumes, typically the automotive industry, features 90m/min fast traverse, acceleration of 12mm/sec2 and and 1.8sec chip-to-chip ATC.
Training is minimal, and familiarisation time is short even for complex components.
"It is the ideal control to complement the high productivity rates and powerful stock removal of the MC 12" Geoff Lloyd, managing director of Heller, said.
"The MC range is a highly productive cost-effective range yielding an uncompromising reduction in piece part costs.

Productivity doubled on twin spindle HMC
A twin-spindle HMC offers double the productivity for less than double the investment, virtually halves the floor space requirement and minimizes operator involvement.
The MC12, which was launched at MACH 2004, has been developed specifically to meet the market demand for a fast, accurate, powerful machining centre with a smaller envelope and pallet size.
It is well suited to the sub-contract market".
The Shopmill control uses either ISO or graphic conversational programming and has automatic speed and feed calculation and a pocket calculation facility.
There is graphic help for setting datums (edge, corner, spigot, hole, block search) and a reposition facility for contouring when machining has been interrupted.
Where some dimensions are unknown, the high powered contour calculator calculates up to 50 unidentified contour elements and transitions.
Program editing is simple using a cut, copy and paste system.
The control provides full graphic simulation (in plan, 3 planes view or full isometric with section views) and dynamic 3D simulation with colour depth representation or real time simulation.
The step sequence programming allows the operator to indicate each programme step with easy to understand symbols, programme machining sequences without prior DIN/ISO knowledge, modify, insert and remove special commands, transition and contour elements, execute single steps in the programme sequence, and read out programmes with contours.
The control has a central tool library.
Multiple clamping of equal or different tool and optimisation of the tool sequence.
The new MC 12, which shares with other machines in the MC range the high build quality for which Heller machines are renowned, is designed to provide the rigidity, robustness and precision needed for efficient and profitable production.
Travel in X is 560mm, 560mm in Y and 510mm in Z.
Pallet size is 400mm x 400mm.
Rapid traverse is 50m/min, axis acceleration 7m/s2, and chip to chip time 4.6 secs.
Spindle speed is 45-12,000 rev/min and spindle torque 83Nm.
Positioning tolerance is 7 micron. Request a free brochure from Heller Machine Tools ...
