Horizontal machining centres are very
dynamic
Built for the production machining of non-ferrous metals, cast irons or hardened steels, Heller's MCi dynamic horizontal machining centres have increased acceleration and precise positioning accuracy.
For the volume production machining of automotive and other batched or volume produced components, the Heller MCi range of horizontal machining centres (HMC) offer increased acceleration in axis drives, precise positioning accuracy and improved circular machining performance To further improve productivity, the MCi HMCs offer a choice of machining spindle speeds up to 8,000, 10,000 or 24,000 rev/min and are rated at, respectively: 30kW/143Nm; 38kW/242Nm; 40kW/95Nm and 25kW40Nm

Fast HMC to get through automotive volumes
a fast, versatile HMC, developed primarily for higher volumes, typically the automotive industry, features 90m/min fast traverse, acceleration of 12mm/sec2 and and 1.8sec chip-to-chip ATC.
Machining centre machines to close tolerances
A small family-owned business will increase its turnover by 35.2% this year and, on new M-Cs, consistently machines to tolerances which would frighten the majority of engineers.
There are two options in the choice of 'dynamic packages' in terms of rapid feeds in axis drives, acceleration and automatic tool change (ATC) chip-to-chip times.
They are as follows.
* Dynamic Package 1 (for example on the MCi 16.1) - rapid traverse is 60m/min; acceleration is 10m/s2 and chip-to-chip time is 2.8s.

Subcontractor gets machine in just three weeks
A machining centre was customised and built in just three weeks for J L French, a first tier subcontractor to the automotive industry.
* Dynamic Package 2 (for example on the MCi 16.2) - rapid traverse is 90m/min; acceleration is 12m/s2 and chip-to-chip time is 2.2s.
Heller's high speed, chain-type tool magazines hold 40 tool pockets (standard) or optionally 80 or 160 tool pockets.
Work envelopes for the three basic variants of MCi are as follows.
* MCi 16 - with SK40/HSK A-63 spindle, 630 x 630 x 630mm.
* MCi 25 - with SK40/HSK A63 spindle, 800 x 800 x 800mm.
* MCi 26 - with HSK A-80 spindle, 800 x 800 x 800mm.
The MCi machine tool structure features the following.
* A rigid T-shaped grey cast iron bed.
* Nodular cast iron gantry column with thermo symmetrically integrated machining unit.
* Direct path measurement system.
* Linear ways with pre-loaded roller bearings.
* Precision mounted motor spindle package.
* State of the art drive and control technology.
* Digital drives and low wear ballscrew drive.
CNCs offered are Siemens Sinumerik 840D with additional Heller modifications for flexibility and functionality including the following.
* Integrated tool data administration.
* Integrated pallet data administration.
Cells and systems - Heller can supply the basic twin-pallet MCi range or quote for various automatic pallet-transport and pallet changer systems, robot loading or overhead transfer.
Standard flexible machining cells - HMC + pallet pool include the following.
* Four-position rotary pallet pool with six or more pallets in the system.
* Eight-position pallet pool (expandable) with 10 or more pallets in the system.
All the MCi machining centres are fitted with interfaces for automatic pallet and work handling systems.
Options also include tool monitoring, automatic rotating and setting stations, remote diagnostics, tool and die machining packages, 5-axis/5-face machining as well as probing systems, hydraulic fixturing systems and so on. Request a free brochure from Heller Machine Tools ...
