News Release from: Heller Machine Tools | Subject: Horizontal machining centres at MACH 2008

Horizontal machining centres are fast,
powerful

Latest horizontal machining centres are fast, powerful, productive machines, capable of heavy stock removal, fast traverse in all axes, and high accuracy.

Heller Machine Tools, the UK manufacturer of horizontal machining centres (HMC), will introduce a new range of HMCs at MACH 2008 According to managing director, Geoff Lloyd: "We hope to capitalise on our strong position in the market at MACH 2008 MACH 2006 was an outstanding success for Heller Machine Tools

We have had an excellent two years since then and we continue to grow".

Lloyd added: "What sets Heller apart is the Heller Package.

This gives our customers the advantage in that we ensure they have the most appropriate and productive machining process, whether they require multiple machine cells or just one stand-alone machine.

For this reason, our stand will be staffed by experienced engineers dedicated to creating the very best machining facility for the customer".

Based at Heller's site in Redditch, West Midlands, UK, Heller engineers analyse in detail the production environment for every application in order to develop the most appropriate process.

* Detailed applications experience - using their detailed experience of working with and for customers, Heller's design engineers have designed ranges of fast, powerful, productive machines.

These HMCs feature heavy stock removal, fast traverse in all axes, and high accuracy (for example, positional accuracy of 0.007mm).

The Heller design team has used the latest techniques, such as FEA (finite element analysis), topology optimisation and mechatronic studies to achieve a practical combination of maximum static and dynamic rigidity, high productivity and process dependability.

The pearlite grey cast iron machine bed, which is cast in one piece, is a T form construction designed to give maximum rigidity.

The structure provides the best absorption of the milling forces even when heavy stock removal or very high traverse speeds are being applied, said Heller to manufacturingtalk.com.

Heller added that its bed design gives such a level of stiffness and rigidity that the machine can be installed with only three fixed installation shoes.

Heller said that it is not only a testament to the machine's build quality but also provides a faster, simpler installation.

* Long guideway service life - linear guideways have pre-loaded roller elements providing a long service life.

The leak-proof bed has steep slopes to aid swarf removal.

The nodular cast iron gantry column, which is thermosymetrically integrated, provides the stronger, denser constitution necessary to contain the torsional forces to which the column is subjected.

* Spares and after sales service - the Heller Package does not stop with developing a process alongside the customer and delivering high performance machines.

As a UK manufacturer spares and service are readily - and promptly - available from the company's own site.

The service department is manned entirely by specialist engineers to ensure machines give optimum, trouble-free, production.

It also manages customer training at their site and encourages customers to send engineers to Redditch to participate in the build of their machines.

Lloyd said: "We know that cost-effective productivity, through imaginative and ingenious use of high quality machines, is the key to UK manufacturing.

At MACH, we will be demonstrating our proven abilities to deliver that cost-effective productivity". Request a free brochure from Heller Machine Tools ...
