Drives and Controls, the UK's leading industrial trade show, is giving a lucky visitor the chance to win a holiday of a lifetime for two In association with motor manufacturer WEG, the show is offering a free trip to Brazil, WEG's homeland

Brazil is also the home of the Drives and Controls mascot - a scarlet macaw.

The trip will go to a visitor that registers to attend the show via the Drives and Controls Web site and answers the following question correctly: Q: Which country won the 2002 football World Cup in Japan? A: Turkey.

B: Brazil.

C: South Korea.

"The competition is a fun idea dreamt up between ourselves and WEG," said Ken Purchase, the show's organiser.

"However, there is a serious issue that underlies it.

Our idea was to allow the competition winner a holiday from the manufacturing recession.

But the long-term goal of the show is to promote the use of advanced technology.

It is only by employing the most cutting edge technology that the UK manufacturing industry can regain its competitive advantage.

Ultimately, this is the only real way we can escape the recession." The Drives and Controls Exhibition will be held from June 3 to 5 in hall nine at the NEC in Birmingham.

The biggest industrial show of its type in the UK, it will cover a floor area of 10,000m2.

With over 200 exhibitors expected, it will be the only opportunity in 2003 for visitors to see many of the biggest names in industry.
