Extending automation reach and functionality
An enhancement to a distributed control system gives manufacturing personnel access to customised information according to their job function.
* HSD for positional data - the GPS Unit is able to provide positional and speed data over an RS485 port (modbus is available). This data can be transmitted over various media such as UHF radio, VHF radio, GSM and GPRS.
It can be used effectively afor tracking works' locomotives around the site, goods and materials handling vehicles and mobile plant.
* HSD for time synchronisation - GPS time data can be provided in two ways, namely over RS485 serial connections for communication with data recorders, PLCs, PCs and other computer based devices, or via a pulse at certain times, for example a time synchronisation pulse at midnight, thus ensuring PLCs and data logging devices maintain an accurate time.
