Adjustable pallet racking repaired easily
Designed principally for the storage of palletised goods, an adjustable pallet racking allows any damaged part of a frame to be replaced without renewing the complete frame.
The combination of Planned Storage Systems (PSS) racking system and Advanced Handling and Storage technical expertise working in synergy has resulted in a impressive new warehouse system for Spark Response, one of the UK's leading providers of multi-channel customer contact and integrated fulfilment solutions.
Spark Response 75,000ft2 warehouse, located in Follingsby Park, Gateshead, UK, has been fitted out with PSS Stronglock adjustable pallet racking to provide the company with 12,000 pallet locations to accommodate additional business won from 'Toys R Us'.
Established in 1987, Spark Response provides a range of outsourced business services to the home shopping and ancillary services markets.
These services include warehouse fulfilment, inbound and outbound telephony services and e-commerce and data capture solutions for clients including de Agostini, GroBag, Powergen, Noble Collection as well as Toys R Us.
The new facility provides the company with a 30% increase in volume creating a total storage facility of 255,000ft2.
Being a pick and pack environment, it was essential that the selected warehouse storage system met stringent health and safety manual handling regulations.
It also needed to accommodate, store and handle over 5,000 different on-line products for Toys R Us and Babies R Us ranging from small packages to pallets and larger items such as play houses and swimming pools.
PSS worked with Advanced Handling and Storage during the planning stages, therefore once the contract was awarded from Spark Response, Advanced Handing and Storage had no hesitation in confirming the business to HiLo Group's Planned Storage Systems (PSS).
With the survey completed and design finalised, PSS was immediately able to commence manufacture to accommodate the customer's stringent and challenging build programme.
"We have worked with PSS on numerous projects and know that they have excellent products and fast response times, which was particularly necessary with this installation," said Chris Moody, managing director of Advanced Handling and Storage.
It was therefore necessary for PSS to work closely with us on this project and as usual, PSS provided us with a first rate service which enabled us to meet our schedule exactly on time." Designed principally for the storage of palletised goods, PSS Stronglock adjustable pallet racking allows any damaged part of a frame to be replaced without renewing the complete frame.
Stronglock beams are available in a wide range of profiles to meet the load requirements of almost any application.
The patented locking action of the beam to upright provides positive location whilst offering easy adjustments on increments of 75mm and come complete with beam locking keys.
"We chose to work with Advanced Storage and PSS on this important project because they had demonstrated previously their ability to respond to our needs with speed and efficiency," said Peter Slee, operations director at Spark Response.
"Advanced Handling and Storage is a local company which we have grown to trust over a number of years whilst PSS products are renowned for their quality and durability.
We had no hesitation in awarding this installation contract to this first class partnership.".
