Adjustable pallet racking for flexible storage

Working with NSI to ensure that a storage system met requirements demanded by Hilti, HiLo-PSS specified PSS Stronglock adjustable pallet racking which has been used to create 230 pallet locations.

When fit-out specialist Northern Storage and Interiors (NSI), won an order to supply a two-storey storage area for leading tool manufacturer and distributor Hilti, the company knew it could rely on HiLo-PSS to provide it with a top of the range solution.

The UK's leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative storage solutions, HiLo-PSS was able to provide NSI with the quality products needed to meet the demands resulting from Hilti's expanding turnover and broader product range.

Located in Bredbury near Manchester, Hilti's 60,000 sq ft distribution centre supports a strategic network of Hilti shops and workshops located throughout the UK supplying tools and consumables to the construction industry.

Continuing expansion and the introduction of new product lines necessitated the company expanding its storage facility into a 4,000 sq ft vacant area of the warehouse.

In order to accommodate both euro-pallets and larger items, NSI suggested the removal of an existing mezzanine floor and the racking of the two-storey area into four sections utilising HiLo-PSS appropriately sized beams and frames to maximise storage density and efficiency.

As one of the areas had to be accessed by a BT Rolatruc reach truck, NSI carried out its survey in conjunction with BT Rolatruc to ensure that the racking and reach truck would work in synergy.

With the survey completed and the profile supplied, the HiLo-PSS design team began work on calculating beam lengths and weight loadings to suit each of the four sections.

Working closely with NSI to ensure that the storage system met the stringent requirements demanded by Hilti, HiLo-PSS specified the PSS Stronglock adjustable pallet racking which has been utilised to create 230 pallet locations.

The racking was fixed to the floor using Hilti's anchors.

Designed principally for the storage of palletised goods, PSS Stronglock adjustable pallet racking allows any damaged part of a frame to be replaced without renewing the complete frame.

Stronglock beams are available in a wide range of profiles to meet the load requirements of almost any application.

The patented locking action of the beam to upright provides positive location whilst offering easy adjustments on increments of 75mm and come complete with beam locking keys.
