Latest generator raises EDM performance

A HK Technologies product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 3, 2006

Thanks to a new generation of generator, the FP80V, an EDM system is revolutionary particularly for tungsten carbide processing and is well suited for automation applications.

Mitsubishi Electric has introduced new machines, which they believe will confirm their claim of market leadership in eroding technology.

The first example of this is the new EA12-V spark eroding system.

Thanks to the new generation of generator, the FP80V, the system is revolutionary particularly for tungsten carbide processing.

The very solid machine bed of cast steel provides a thermally stabilised construction while the flexible design of the EA12-V is well suited for automation.

These are only a few of the reasons why this special machine has already won several design awards.

In addition, there is a new generation of the high precision wire eroding systems of the PA series.

These popular units are known for their economy as well as for their robustness and reliability.

The combination of machining results such as; surface qualities of 0.1 micron Ra and its contour exactness values lower than 2 micron make the PA series stand out from other similar machines on the market.

A massive cast steel based construction, a newly developed fine smoothing generator as well as a fully integrated temperature control concept supports the PA20 with a broad and versatile application spectrum.

With this kind of performance it easy to see why Mitsubishi Electric has a market leading position in eroding technology.

The FA20V-S wire eroding system has also exceeded all customer expectations with respect to productivity and flexibility: Erosion rates of more than 500mm2/min and surface quality values of <0.25 micron Ra are combined with a very attractive price-performance ratio.

These machines can easily be integrated into an automation cell combined with a Mitsubishi Electric MELFA 6-axis robot, which provides an easy solution for flexibility and high productivity.

Nigel Bunt, joint managing director of HK Technologies, said: "These continued developments from Mitsubishi provide us with the latest EDM technology that enables HK Technologies to provide the most effective solutions to our customers and strengthens our position in the market.".
