The DIN 6343 has a 2mm gripping range with spiral serrations, and is compatible with DIN 173E, 185E, 171E, 163E, etc DIN spring collets.
The standard Varibore collet has a 3mm gripping range with plain bore.
Both of these collets types cut down on spring collet inventory, therefore cutting cost.
