Bus manufacturer praises clamps'
performance
Three major benefits of Brauer clamps are they are very reliable, convenient to operate and they remain fixed shut until they are actively disengaged, says a leading bus manufacturer.
The Optare Group, which has played a leading role in innovation in UK bus design and manufacture since its creation nearly 20 years ago, relies on clamps from HMC Brauer for the numerous jigs and fixtures in its Leeds assembly plant Optare, the British subsidiary of North American Bus Industries, employs more than 500 staff, has a turnover of well over GBP 40m, and has built an enviable reputation for quality and excellence

Pneumatic slim-line clamp provides more power
Pneumatic slim-line power clamp that provides more power in less space has a unique operating mechanism, which is the subject of both UK and international patents.
The vast majority of the buses it builds are of its own design and construction - indeed it is a fully rounded automotive business, capable not only of making, but designing from scratch, a wide range of vehicles for the passenger transport industry, which is why convenient, reliable clamps are such an important component of its many assembly and sub-assembly jigs.
Paul Simpson, Tool Room Supervisor, explains; "With over 100 jigs, some of which may incorporate up to 50 clamps, we have several hundred Brauer clamps operational on our shop floor at any time".
" Many of these are used in welding operations, so reliability in what can be a pretty harsh environment is very important." He continues, "We have found three major benefits with the Brauer clamps: they are very reliable, they are convenient to operate - with a straight up and straight down, single handle mechanism, and they remain fixed shut until they are actively disengaged - you can turn a fixture completely upside down and the clamps will maintain their grip." HMC Brauer is the UK market leader in the manufacture of toggle clamping products which is why Brauer clamps are specified as the preferred choice by many leading international aerospace, automotive and engineering companies.
HMC Brauer's clamping catalogue contains over 350 different model types, including horizontal, vertical, heavy duty, swing and swing assembly - with additional bespoke options also available for specific applications.
