Positioning systems and drives introduced

Integrated positioning systems are designed to provide quick and easy setting of axes on production machines and include an absolute encoder in a compact easy to fit package.

HMK Automation and Drives has introduced integrated positioning systems and has made available the Siemens S120 AC Servodrive.

* Integrated positioning systems - designed for the quick and easy setting of axes on production machines, the H-W systems offer an integrated brushless motor, 24V drive, precision gearbox and absolute encoder in a compact easy to fit package.

HMK has some exclusive design innovations such as the integrated clamp couplings and anti-rotate pin.

These products need no additional mounting equipment iexcept a shaft to couple to.

The multi-turn absolute encoder is mounted on the output of the gearbox, thus removing any backlash from the setting system.

Profibus, CAN Open or DeviceNet communications allow easy connection to any master control system.

* Siemens S120 AC Servodrive - the S120 is a modular drive that can be used stand alone or as part of a larger Simotion application.

These drives are fed directly from the mains rather than from a common rectifier.

In stand alone configuration using a PM340 power module and CU320 control module, the drive can connect to a PLC via Profibus or Profinet.

Simple motion tasks can be executed using the new EPOS 'easy positioning' routines.

In larger projects, the PM340 power module and the CUA31 control module, allow the drives to connect to the Simotion D motion control platform.

The S120 AC drives are available in the power ranges 0.12-0.75kW (1AC 230V), 0.37-250kW (3AC 400V).
