Henkel Technologies is situated just 400m from the Buncefield Oil Depot, located in what authorities have classified as damage zone 2, to which all access restrictions were lifted on Wednesday afternoon.
The company, which successfully relocated its customer service and technical departments to its premises in Hatfield by 10.00am last Monday morning, has started the clean-up operation to make the Hemel Hempstead building safe and secure.
It plans to start a phased moving back process on Friday this week and hopes to be fully operational in Hemel Hempstead from Wednesday next week.
