Filter/regulator has near-zero pressure
drop

Pressure drop across the filter element is practically zero in a filter/regulator for controlling the quality of compressed air, particularly in demanding and arduous environments.

Hoerbiger-Origa has launched A25, a new G1 (1in port) sized FRL (Filter/Regulator/Lubricator) for controlling the quality of compressed air, particularly in demanding and arduous environments It brings together for the first time several new developments in materials science and flow technologies to set new standards in price/performance expectations

The standard filter element offers a 30 micron pore size and the pressure drop across the filter element is practically zero so that there is effectively no loss of air flow and efficiency is 100%.

As an option, filter elements with 5 ?m pore size can be ordered.

Again the pressure drop across these is minimal, in fact they provide flow rates equivalent to those of conventional 30 micron filters! This is a great advantage for users who need optimum filtration and high flow rates in their application.

Very high flow rates were one of the recognised advantages of Hoerbiger-Origa's earlier G1 FRL range, the Airfit Prestige Series and the new A25 system goes further, with its 18,000 litres/min flow rate, maximum inlet pressure of 17.5 bar and zero pressure drop redefining the state of the art.

The inlet pressure tolerance is achived in part through the careful specification of the main spring in the regulator; The greater the spring rate the higher the inlet pressure tolerance, and Hoerbiger-Origa provides a range of springs from which the optimum rate can be chosen for each application.

The result is significantly higher performance from a lighter weight FRL.

Hoerbiger-Origa has developed a new bowl design for the A25 which provides great ruggedness and extreme resistance to chemicals.

To achieve both objectives, a two-part structure is used: a metal outer bowl, for great mechanical strength; and a transparent plastic inner bowl, for high resistance to aggressive media.

The inner bowl is formed in a high performance polyurethane which is completely resistant to the oils and solvents introduced to compressed air supplies by the compressor itself.

This is particularly significant in applications such as paint shops where solvents may be present in significant quantities and previously the expensive solution of a metal bowl and separate external sight glass has had to be used.

The water separation performance of the A25, which removes the moisture entrained in compressed air is never less than 90 per cent and often exceeds 99%.

Again this contrasts with older generation FRLs where separation efficiency rarely exceeds 90% and can, all too often fall to below 5%.

This performance means that drainage of the collected water has to be effective, which Hoerbiger-Origa achieves through the use of a spring-loaded float in the regulator, rather than by being satisfied with the traditional free-floating design.

Like its predecessor range the A25 is provided with two mounting options, wall-mounting and free-standing: indeed they are dimensionally identical to the older mounting systems, allowing users who want to trade-up to the A25 and simple upgrade path. Request a free brochure from Hoerbiger-Origa ...
