Rodless cylinder guidance accepts
heavier loads
Programme of rodless cylinders has been extended with the introduction of a new guidance component designed to withstand the heaviest loads.
Hoerbiger-Origa has extended its ORIGA System Plus (OSP-P) programme of rodless cylinders with a new guidance component designed to withstand the heaviest loads The OSP-P cylinder is now available with the Starline linear guidance system which uses recirculating linear ball bearings to provide a dynamic load-bearing platform

Precise rodless cylinders prevent foaming
Manufacturer of filling machines is using the precision movement capabilities of rodless pneumatic cylinders for handing delicate liquids that can froth or foam in an instant.
The design details are such that the Starline can support not only high vertical loads but also high side loads and turning moments, yet can maintain accurate positioning.
"Starline complements the existing range of modular guides available with the OSP range," says Ray Barnes managing director of Hoerbiger-Origa.
"In keeping with our company philosophy, Starline's mounting dimensions are configured to ensure a high degree of interchangeability with other OSP actuators, both pneumatic and electric." As with all OSP actuators there are numerous possibilities to mount multiple actuators in multiplex configurations, which provide for maximum system flexibility and load support capability - this offers particular benefits for handling and multi-axis applications, in which the actuators are integral structural elements of the system.
Hoerbiger-Origa has made the Starline guidance cylinder available in diameters of 16mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm and 50mm.
Stroke lengths of up to 3700mm are offered as standard, with longer strokes available upon request.
The maximum direct load carrying capacity for the size 50mm is 7500N and bending moments up to 580 Nm can be absorbed.
Speed is dependent upon the drive selection, but can be as high as 5m/sec if required.
Optionally Starline is also available with adjustable stops and integrated shock absorbers.
The new OSP-P with Starline guidance features an integrated scraper system and integrated grease nipples, ensuring a long service life for the system.
This means it is well suited for demanding applications where extremely high loads require smooth motion and precision positioning.
An extensive accessory range with fastenings, centre supports, and sensors compliments the modular Starline programme. Request a free brochure from Hoerbiger-Origa ...
