NORTEC 2008, with its unique 'Make-and-Buy' concept, is the presentation platform for manufacturers and specialist dealers in advanced manufacturing technologies, and at the same time it is the meeting point for suppliers and purchasers of parts and components, and production-related services.
The exhibition contents are well supported by an extensive conference programme - there is a Logistics and Procurement Symposium giving buyers and suppliers an opportunity to discuss risk management in the supply chain.
A VDMA Workshop will discuss methods to optimise production, and the impact of manufacturing, logistics, energy input and maintenance on overall economic performance.
And there will be a Technology Forum to give technically minded young people new insights into modern technologies, career profiles and courses of study.
Another new feature is the Innovation Forum, with speakers reporting on production in the competition to optimise quality, costs and time; they come from the aircraft, automotive and shipbuilding industries, from medical and fine mechanics engineering, and from component, tooling and plant production.
Another focus will be robots and production automation in small and medium-sized companies.
There will be reports on the latest in measuring technology from the aviation and equipment supply industry.
And there will be lectures on laser product innovations in cutting, welding, surface treatment and laser generating.
There will be discussions under the heading of 'Efficient Cutting' on the use of smart tooling and machine tools combined with the appropriate fixtures to make production in Germany profitable.
Active involvement includes trade associations such as the VDMA (German Engineering Federation), Nordmetall, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the German Association for Materials Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME); they will provide information and advice and ensure by their commitment that the NORTEC 2008 will be more than just a product show.
The NORTEC, 11th Trade Fair for Manufacturing Technology, will be held at the New Hamburg Trade Fair site, January 23-26, 2008.
Opening times are 9:00 to 17:00 on Wednesday to Friday and 9:00 to 14:00 on Saturday.
Admission charges: day ticket EUR 17, 4-day pass EUR 30, day ticket for Saturday EUR 12; concessionary rate for school and university students EUR 6; group rate for 12 or more persons EUR 12/person.
