Cost effective filtration system designed to handle both high flow levels and fine particle removal has been developed for a wide range of metalworking applications.

Hirschmann Engineering UK has accepted the sole distributorship of Ebbco fluid filters for the UK and Ireland Developed for a wide range of metalworking applications, the Ebbco is a cost effective filtration system designed to handle both high flow levels and fine particle removal

"It is a high quality range of filters which sits comfortably with the other products, which the Oel-Held Group offers, such as the Oel-Held specialist metal cutting fluids and the Hirschmann workholding systems," managing director of the group, Colin Hayter, said.

"The application specific filters, all of which are designed and manufactured by Ebbco itself, cover all aspects of the metal cutting industry, including prismatic and cylindrical machining, grinding, EDM, wire erosion and waterjet cutting".

"They have an excellent price-performance ratio, combining functionality, productivity, longevity".

Founded in 1983, Ebbco rapidly achieved market-leader status in the United States of America and is now attempting to replicate that achievement throughout Europe.

The appointment of Hirschmann as its distributor for the UK is the first step in realising that objective.

Based in a 30,000ft2 manufacturing premises, Ebbco retains a substantial design capability and has a fully integrated manufacturing system with testing capabilities up to 100hp and a fluid analysis testing laboratory.

The range has been developed (and much of it patented) in response to customer requirement.

Productivity is increased, costs decreased and paper media eliminated by the Ebbco Sludgemaster.

The process of circulation, filtration, and evacuation is combined in a continuous coolant management system that has few moving parts, no media replacement and is virtually maintenance free.

This approach to coolant management extends coolant life by preventing contaminants from accumulating anywhere in the system.

By using the unique centrifugal action of the Lakos separators, solids are collected automatically for easy disposal.

The Ebbco conventional EDM filtration system delivers clean fluid back into the EDM tank by filtering out a high volume of sludge.

The structurally strong filter cartridge has a sludge holding capacity of up to 60 lb, the 84ft2 of filter media is compatible with dielectric fluid.

The filters are cleanable and reusable.

The recirculating flow design ensures the highest fluid flow.

The system works equally well whether filtering the submerged work tank or the rear dielectric tank.

For waterjet cutting, the closed loop system is designed to close the drain completely by filtering and reusing the overflow water.

This reduces water consumption by up to 98% and reduces the costs of water treatments.

The fluid pump is protected because the system always supplies the pump with manufacturer-specified water quality.

Filter life is further improved by the Ebbco settling weir system, which allows for settling out of suspended solids.

Manufactured from 10 gauge carbon steel, it has a capacity of 90 gallons and 24in x36in footprint.

Ebbco's abrasive removal system is designed to continuously remove the spent abrasive which collects in the catch tank, eliminating downtime caused by cleaning out the tank.

Other products include the Oil Slick, which is an efficient alternative means of removing fee and mechanically emulsified tramp oil fro the machine coolant sups an aqueous wash baths.

A compact system, it can be used either as a stand alone or portable system.

The Sludge Wrangler removes sludge and swarf from machine tool sumps.

Portable and easy to use, it has a heavy duty double diaphragm.

A self priming pump supplies the suction and flow.

The General is a portable chip vacuum and filter system.

coolant filters through a high capacity bag filter which captures solids in excess of 50m and then through a cartridge filter for finish filtration of 15m.

The clean coolant is pumped back into the machine's reservoir.

The Coolant Sentry is a compact aqueous coolant manager system designed to remove free and mechanically emulsified tramp oil as well as swarf and sludge from coolant sumps and tanks.

High capacity filters mean longer service intervals.
