A new, UK designed and manufactured filtration system for machine tool coolant is being launched by Hirschmann Engineering UK.

The system has been developed to fill a marked need for an effective, medium sized filtration system which is effective down to 1m and is realistically priced.

It can be supplied for new machines or as a retro-fittable unit.

Managing director of Hirschmann, Colin Hayter, said: "We have developed the new filtration system because our customers need a system in the lower price range which is easier to use than the systems currently available.

It has been designed specifically to meet the requirements which our customers have.

The system is complementary to the other filtration systems we offer.

It enables us to give customers the choice from a comprehensive range so we can suit the filtration system to the application precisely.

The new system has been designed by our own engineers and is being manufactured for us in the UK, eliminating any problems with delivery, spare parts and service requirements." The new system is unusual in that the filters are placed horizontally in the filtration system, so are far easier to load and - more particularly - to unload.

A single cartridge is used in the filter.

The filtration area is double that of other systems of a similar capacity.

The filter handles up to 80litre/min so is suitable for use with high pressure coolant systems and filters to 1m.

Maintenance is minimal because the tank is self-cleaning: Hirschmann has designed a unique method of disrupting oil in the tank to eliminate the problem of sludge settling in the bottom of the oil tank.

The chiller unit is integral within the system.

The unit has a small footprint, minimising the floor space required.

The new filtration system is complementary to the other filtration systems supplied by the Oel-Held Group, which is part of Hirschmann Engineering UK.

The Oel-Held group of companies supplies the powerful Transor filtration system.

Hirschmann Engineering is the sole UK distributor for both the Mann + Hummel and the Ebbco filtration systems.
