Backing tape prevents weld failure
Backing tape used in the welding of seams or runs help to prevent weld failures and produce flat, slag-free welds requiring no grinding or backgouging.
Welding equipment maker moves to Wales
Huntingdon Fusion Techniques left its Huntingdon home on December 19 to relocate to larger premises in Burry Port in Carmarthenshire.
HFT's TIG welding course for beginners or for those with little recent experience, covers a number of essential areas and topics include Electrode Choice, Preparation, Getting the Arc Gap right, Welding Calculation and Weld Purging techniques.
The course is designed to be flexible so that operators or managers can use available time.
The distance learning technique used means that anyone can sign up for the course which requires 2-3 hours a week to complete over three months.
Delegates receive emails each week and sign in for a number of web broadcasts which can be downloaded at leisure.
At the end of the course, those delegates who have completed the competency assessments satisfactorily will receive a certificate of achievement.
HFT is quick to stress that the course is no substitute for skills-based welding training.
"Any welding process and, in particular, TIG welding, can take years to learn and perfect," says Darren Sewell, managing director of HFT.
"Our course is designed to add to that expertise and provide background knowledge to those engaged in welding or for those with an interest in the processes." The course is being offered free to encourage good practice in the industry.
Darren continues, "There are many experienced welders with a huge pool of experience, but many learning their trade these days do so without taking on the necessary knowledge to ensure best practice. Request a free brochure from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques ...
What's more, many of the subjects covered are easily forgotten and there's no harm in refreshing knowledge or bringing it up to date.".
