Difficult pipe sealed successfully for
welding
Access to a welding area was very difficult to seal a section of 300mm diameter pipe prior to welding an insert in place but a purging system was meet the severe constraints of access.
Yet another example of the flexibility of the Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT) B9 purge systems has been generated through a customer requirement to seal a section of 300mm (12in) diameter pipe prior to welding an insert in place Access to the weld area was extremely difficult and involved passing the purge system through a 125mm (5in) diameter orifice, then round a 90 deg bend and finally into the weld area - a total distance of some 1500mm from the access point

A pipe purging system will help welding engineers to carry out chrome steel pipework welding easier and faster and they will be able to guarantee the quality of the weld root.
Purging system feels the heat - but stays cool
Argweld heat resistant pipe purging systems from HFT allow for the welding of high-temperature applications, providing a cost-efficient, time-saving tool for clean and reliable welds.
Since HFT designs and manufactures weld purge systems and has considerable experience with specialised applications such as this one, meeting the specific requirements was a simple exercise.
Following supply and testing of a prototype system the customer proceeded to order nine systems and delivery has been completed.
The purge systems, designed by HFT engineers to meet the severe constraints of access, are able to incorporate CCTV surveillance cameras to verify optimum positioning of the sealing bladders prior to welding.
An additional requirement was that the systems should be manufactured using approved materials which would be totally compatible with the application environment.
Hose connections for argon purge and exhaust gas were provided and protective straps used between the purge bladders to ensure correct separation and to aid with removal following the welding operations.
Huntingdon Fusion Techniques B9 weld purge division manufactures a wide range of devices for sealing and purging tanks, pipes and tubes for the automotive, aerospace, food, pharmaceutical, plumbing and construction industries. Request a free brochure from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques ...
