Portable equipment capable of freezing static water in pipes covers a range of pipe diameters of 12.5-300mm (0.5-12in) can be accommodated using one of two freezing techniques.

Making repairs and modifications to liquid-carrying pipes and ancillary plant can be time consuming and expensive if draining of the system becomes necessary Whilst small scale freezing equipment has been available and in widespread use for some time now for routine plumbing applications, effective freezing of large pipes has not been a practical alternative to draining

Portable equipment capable of freezing static water in pipes has now been introduced by Huntingdon Fusion Techniques.

A range of pipe diameters of 12.5-300mm (0.5-12in) can be accommodated using one of two freezing techniques.

For pipe sizes of 12.5-200 mm (0.5-8in) the Qwik-Freezer product range utilises liquid carbon dioxide to temporarily freeze a plug of ice securely and thus isolate liquid from the working area.

Accu-Freeze is a product based on liquid nitrogen and can be used on pipes up to 300mm (12in) diameter.

An additional attraction of Accu-Freeze is that it can be used in conjunction with a control system which continuously monitors the surface of the pipe and can maintain a pre-selected temperature.
