Grinder improves TIG welding arc positioning
Tungsten electrode grinder produces a tip shape that allows precise positioning of the arc for manual TIG welding and avoids 'preferential arcing' produced by poorly shaped, manually ground tips.
Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT)'s HFT Techweld TEG-3 tungsten electrode grinder has a high powered motor that is guaranteed for life.
The TEG-3 grinds tungsten electrodes from 0.25mm up to 6mm and larger, without stalling or burning out.
HFT said that stalling or burning out has been a major user complaint concerning other makes tungsten electrode grinding machines.
The TEG-3's high-speed motor runs from either a 110V or 220V single-phase supply at 50Hz.
A very substantial, easily replaceable, diamond wheel is delivered with the TEG -3 that gives the equivalent of three man-years grinding life.
* Grinding head development - the HFT Techweld TEG-3 now has the grinding head mounted at the '6 o'clock' position.
In this way, dust is expelled downwards, directly towards the vacuum collection point, allowing the operator to clearly see the progress of the grinding.
Hazardous dust is drawn into the optional dust extraction system, which can be supplied with the grinder or separately for retrofitting at a later date.
The TEG - 3 grinds electrodes longitudinally to eliminate the circumferential lines and ridges that cause arc flicker and wander, so that identical and repeatable results are achieved, particularly with mechanised welding.
HFT told manufacturingtalk that the tip shape produced by the grinder allows precise positioning of the arc for manual welding without the preferential arcing that occurs with poorly shaped, manually ground tips.
To prevent the grinding of contaminating materials, a front cover is installed that allows only tungsten electrodes and eliminates transfer of unwanted elements to the weld-pool.
An extra collet attachment for the holding block allows short electrodes down to 12mm in length to be sharpened.
* Machines selling well - Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT) said that sales of its Tungsten Electrode Grinders are doing very well.
HFT's marketing manager, Mike Dunn, said that orders were received from all corners of the world, as customers became more aware of the advantages of this superior specification workshop tool and took advantage of its many features and benefits.
