High speed VMC machines graphite and
plastics
High-speed machining centre is specifically for engraving and machining graphite, plastics and light metals and is ideal for detailed machining operations with small cutters.
A new, high-speed machining centre has been introduced by Hurco, designated VM1HS, specifically for engraving and the machining of graphite, plastics and light metals Occupying a footprint of only 1.8m x 1.6m yet with a working envelope of 660 by 356 by 457mm, it is ideal for detailed machining operations with small cutters

One-stop EDM toolmaker buys CNC milling
An EDM toolmaker-come-general subcontractor wanting to expand into prismatic metalcutting has bought a Hurco machining centre to offer a one-stop service
Using the same compact frame as the VM1 machining centre, the new model has several advanced modifications and component enhancements, resulting in a machine that is said to be quick, accurate and cost effective.
There are two spindle options, 20,000 rev/min or 30,000 rev/min, both employing liquid refrigeration for long life and thermal stability.
Machine rapids have been increased from 19 to 24m/min and the magazine for 30-taper tools, which are exchanged into the spindle using a swing-arm automatic changer, has been increased in capacity to 20 tools.
Additional sealing is provided for the slideway covers and provision has been made to add a variety of extraction systems.
The Hurco 'MAX' control with colour touch-screen graphics and simple conversational programming is fitted as standard and includes Hurco's high-speed profiling software, designated C600, which uses a 566MHz Pentium processor and 2,000 blocks per second processing for rapid throughput and fine surface finish.
Software options are extensive, including pocket milling with helical ramp entry and island avoidance, direct DXF file translation, 3D mould software for creating three-dimensional parts from two-dimensional open contours, the Ultinet data communications interface, and conversational tool and part probing.
