Web site focusses on robotics and simulation
Supplier of engineering services for the automotive and aircraft construction industries has launched a Web site - a German news service on robotics and simulation, with helpful guidelines.
During the construction period IBK utilises among other tools Dassault System's CATIA V4 and V5 to offer all services needed for a virtual plant.
In the automotive industry the virtual plant has been an important topic for many years.
The main goal in this context is an integrated software solution for planning, construction and production using the same data source over the whole process.
This way, data junctions can be minimised and processes can be accelerated to achieve an overall improvement in planning and process quality along with a noticeable cost reduction.
Taking into account the rising complexity in the production of automobiles and reduced time to market, the virtual plant becomes more and more important.
As of today, the virtual plant concept already is everyday life at the IBK Ingenieurconsult fuer Maschinenbau.
Existing under one umbrella, the German engineering company has a powerful planning department with special know-how in plant planning and robotics and four construction departments focussed on body shop and part assembly.
Complex projects like virtual plant projects are processed in teams consisting of planning engineers, robcad experts, CAD construction specialists and project managers with deep knowledge of the needs at the building lot.
These project managers work side by side with IBK's clients during planning, construction, part production, plant assembly and initial operation of the machines.
Taken seriously, implementing the virtual plant concept requires not only data integration but a structured and team-oriented approach to human resources.
To integrate data during the construction process, IBK deploys Dassault System's SmarTeam, a powerful PDM/PLM solution.
Concerning the virtual plant, IBK has successfully completed many complex projects of considerable size like the assembly line of the new VW Golf A5 in Wolfsburg, Germany.
In this project IBK worked closely with Volkswagen to build a digital 3D simulation.
