icenta Controls has added the new versatile 2537 paddlewheel flow sensor from GF Signet to its broad line of flow monitoring and process control instrumentation The new 2537 flowmeter combines Signet's proven paddlewheel sensing technology with a variety of output options for increased product versatility: * The 4 - 20 mA output model can be directly interfaced with a PLC, chart recorder, or any other device that requires a 4 - 20 mA signal, providing a versatile all-round solution to a wide range of flow monitoring application requirements * The flow switch version is ideal for simple ON/OFF applications that can trigger alarms for the reliable protection of pumps and other sensitive devices

* The pulse version can be used as a pump pulser in batching applications by simply programming the desired fluid volume before a pulse is sent.

A pulse-divider feature also accommodates PLCs that cannot handle high frequency signals.

* The digital (S3L) model allows for the connection of up to six sensors to a single Signet 8900 multi-parameter controller.

A choice of body and rotor pin materials also allows for application versatility.

Material choices include polypropylene and PVDF for excellent corrosion resistance and maximum purity with fluids ranging from ultrapure water to the harshest reagents.

Additionally, the Signet 2537 can be installed into pipe sizes from 0.5" to 8" (DIN 15 to DIN 200) and offers low flow capabilities down to 0.1 m/s, low power and high-resolution options and a built-in user interface for on-site configuration.

According to icenta, paddlewheel flow meters offer a relatively low cost high accuracy option for many flow system applications, not just displaying the flow rate and the total accumulated flow.

Typical applications for the Signet 2537 series include the accurate measurement of preset fluid volumes in dispensing systems, control of chemical metering pump output, flow verification and alerting users to flow rate increases or decreases outside a programmed range.
