ICEM Shape Design's seamless integration with Dassault Systemes Catia V5 collaborative product development and manufacturing software suite and CAA V5-based product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions was the main reason given by KS engineering for its decision to acquire and deploy the new software.
The result of a strategic software development and marketing agreement between ICEM and Dassault Systemes announced at the end of March, 2005, ICEM Shape Design provides a range of highly intuitive tools for the creation, validation and modification of any type of surface, from freeform surfaces to complex mechanical shapes.

ICEM Surf now supported on Linux
ICEM Ltd today announced that its ICEM Surf 3D surface modelling and evaluation software suite is to be made available for the Linux open source operating system.
Having been developed on Dassault Systemes' CAA V5 software architecture, it integrates seamlessly with the Catia V5 CAD/CAM software suite and CAA V5-based product lifecycle management (PLM) environments.
"ICEM Shape Design will be a key component of our overall PLM software environment", said Tadeus Kischa, co-founder and co-owner of KS engineering , who is responsible for business development.
"At the moment, we use ICEM Surf for Class A surfaces and Catia V4 and V5 for the vehicle body-in-white (BIW) development process".
"With ICEM Shape Design we will now be able to use native CAA V5 data throughout the interior and exterior design development process".
"This will improve workflow, both internally and with our customers and ensure data integrity, which in turn will help to improve the final product quality".
"We therefore regard it as an important enabler for improving our competitiveness and in winning a larger share of the automotive industry market." "We are delighted with KS engineering's decision to add ICEM Shape Design to its product development tools-set," said Lee Cureton, chief executive, ICEM.
"It indicates to us that this new software suite has the potential to help automotive manufacturers and their suppliers meet the ever tighter development time-scales and quality targets that today's competitive market demands.".
