Automotive trim manufacturer selects Idhammar

Idhammar asset management is now deployed in automotive interior trim manufacturer to replace the use paper, Excel spreadsheets and an Access database.

Collins and Aikman produces interior parts and trim for the automotive industry and has a number of major car manufacturers among its customers.

The European Group companies have approximately 4,000 employees across 24 plants in 9 countries.

The Collins and Aikman site in Coleshill, Warwickshire is unique amongst other companies in this sector as it manufactures its own carpet stock there.

These carpets are then moulded for use in motor vehicles, with Land Rover being one of Collins and Aikman's main customers.

Maintenance manager, Robin Smith approached FMS Systems in September 2005, having used one of their CMMS products in a previous role.

Robin was looking for a system which would replace their various in-house systems - a combination of paper, Excel spreadsheets and an Access database - and which would also give him better control over Stores.

Robin selected the Idhammar system to meet his requirements and, with the help of FMS engineering specialists, is planning to implement the system before the end of 2005.

Idhammar is also used by the Collins and Aikman site in Skara, Sweden.
