Feeder replacement allows bars to run
faster
Bar feeders used by an Italian CNC automatic lathe shop posed collision problems for the guidance and support systems of small diameter bars at high speeds, until new feeders were introduced.
Metal Work is a leading Italian company in the manufacture of pneumatic components for industrial automatic systems Its activities focus on the design, production, assembly and sale of valves, cylinders, fittings and air-treatment groups

Swiss Myano distributor adds IEMCA bar feeders
Newemag company, which has been active on the Swiss machine tool market for 28 years and selling Myano CNC lathes, is now offering IEMCA bar feeders.
The company is actually in charge of the entire production cycle, paying special attention to the internalisation of production processes in metal working.
Machines are equipped with the most modern technologies available, which combined with heavy application requirements call for machinery and control systems of the highest reliability and performance standards, vital to ensuring constant productivity flows.
The vast technological facilities of Metal Work includes a large number of automatic lathes fitted with bar feeders.
The bar feeders formerly used posed problems for the guidance and support systems of bars (particularly those of small diameter), which thus limited the speed with which bars could be rotated without causing collisions.
Metal Work therefore replaced them with a series of new-generation IEMCA bar feeders, which guide and support the bars by means of a hydraulic system that effectively allows associated machine tools to be used to their full potential, reducing noise levels to the benefit of productivity and environment quality standards alike.
Furthermore, thanks to the brand-new data transmission system between Iemca feeder and the lathe (see previous artlcle on Manufacturingtalk 'Bar feeders enter into dialogue with CNC lathes'), the operator has all the information necessary about the status of loaded bars and the length of each piece, thereby optimising the production of cylinder shafts (machined and completed within 48 hours of order).
