Feeder effects bar diameter changes
quickly
Bar changeover from one diameter to another has never been simpler or quicker, says a manufacturer about its latest bar feeder that can withstand the highest levels of strain during machining.
IEMCA introduces the Boss-E, the latest model in the series of Boss bar feeders - a series that by virtue of the 8,800 units already present on the market constitutes one of IEMCA's most important achievements of the last decade The new design features of the Boss-E combine to deliver a capacity to withstand the highest levels of strain during machining processes, not to mention a remarkable degree of operating flexibility

Multi-spindle lathe bar feeder updated
Implementation of safety category III and the PROFIBUS L2DP communications protocol for the exchange of signals with the multi-spindle lathe feature an updated bar feeder.
Bar changeover from one diameter to another has never been simpler or quicker, making the Boss the ideal partner for lathes that frequently alternate machining types during the same day.
Every detail of this bar feeder has been conceived to ensure that all engineering demands seamlessly unite with simplicity of use, easy maintenance, compact dimensions and sleek contours.
The Boss-E, which can be configured with all lathe types currently on the market, comes in three different models: * Boss 332: ideal for sliding headstock "Swiss-type" lathes, for diameter range between 3 and 32mm diameter.
* Boss 545 and Boss 551: designed for fixed headstock lathes, for diameter range between 5 and 51mmdiameter.
Specifications: * Bar introduction/extraction clamps self-centring directly on bar, requiring no adjustment by the operator when changing bar size.
* New guide channel (patented) completely closed during machining cycles; oil pressure inside the channel generates hydraulic support, allowing high-speed bar rotation without causing vibration or surface wear; rapid replacement and maintenance of interchangeable guides.
* Lubrication system optimised by no-filter, no-maintenance centrifugal pump.
* Bushing holder device is designed for rapid changeover (less than 30 seconds!) of front half-bushings after each machining cycle.
* Maximum reliability and visibility of remnant fall.
* Double bar pusher with compact rotating assemblies considerably reduces bar feeder length - rapid replacement of clamp, interchangeable with all currently available clamp types.
* Brushless motor with easy-access position and torque control, facilitating checking operations; no maintenance required.
* PLC integrated into the electrical panel, for dialogue with the lathe controller.
* Single-rack magazine fitted with devices designed for rapid selection of bar diameter and quick bar loading.
* User-friendly hand-held keypad for easy programming.
