Multi-spindle lathe bar feeder updated
Implementation of safety category III and the PROFIBUS L2DP communications protocol for the exchange of signals with the multi-spindle lathe feature an updated bar feeder.
Developed back in 1997 for installation in place of the stock reel of multispindle lathes, the SIR bar feeder has now been subjected to a technological restyling process involving the addition of several major new design solutions and electronic features, including the implementation of safety category III and the PROFIBUS L2DP communications protocol for the exchange of signals with the lathe The SIR Series III feeder currently represents the state-of-the-art in terms of bar feeding on multispindle lathes of the latest generation

MASTER 880 MP bar feeder gives maximum flexibility
To complete the MASTER 880 project in the rack and bundle versions, IEMCA has unveiled its new MASTER 880 MP feeder (Single-rack).
The success of this new SIR Series III model is such that production in 2004 has almost doubled with respect to 2003, thanks also to the excellent relations with the world's top manufacturers of multispindle lathes, such as Gildemeister, Index, Schuette, Tajmac-ZPS and Tornos.
Special versions have also been developed to extend the application of the feeder to lathes (e.g the Tornos SAS 16, As 14 and others), which feature reduced spindles centredistance and very high working and travelling speeds.
In addition, the range has been even further expanded to encompass model SIR 52 for bars of up to 52mm in diameter, for lathes with 6/8 spindles.

No more trouble with bar feeders
With the IEMCA PRA 40, enough material can be loaded on Tornos Bechler multi-spindle automatics at Har Technologies to allow 24h of continuous and unattended operation.
The spool-type guide channel system makes four guide channels readily available for selection.
This system affords the SIR 52 the exceptional flexibility, as seen in the rapidity of machining changeovers, for which the SIR series is renowned.
Like other models, the SIR 52 also features the possibility of independent spool bar guide, perfect when guiding bars and bar pushers at the same time in the most suitable channel.
With a view to heightening application versatility even more, the feeder is available in 6- and 8-channel versions, as well as prearranged for spindle centre-to-centre 270mm to 380mm.
All components that directly or indirectly absorb strain generated by bar rotation have been sized in compliance with FEM test or frequency response specifications.
The SIR 52 features the same operating cycle of other SIR machines, though is fitted with a more rapid and flexible S7 300C PLC Siemens controller.
The electric system is structured into three separate safety power units, which as necessary can disable operation of feeder components, thus assuring safety standards in all conditions and compliance with all relevant security regulations.
The barfeeder will be available in versions with bundle magazine and chain magazine.
Overall unit length is compact, thanks to the twin bar pusher system, a hallmark of all IEMCA bar feeders.
