Self-Calibrating Leak Testers
Two production-line leak detectors featuring a new electronic technology for self-calibration and system validation are being launched by InterTech Development Company (IDC).
The unit's microprocessor-controlled system monitors test pressures up to 100 psig, controls fill, bypass and stablize times automatically, and reports results on a vacuum-fluorescent display.
While operating in "Normal Test Mode", the display shows real-time pressure changes, pressure drop due to leakage, date and time of test, and type of fault.
No operator judgement is required; front-panel lighted indicators show amber for test-in-progress, green for accept and red for reject.

Low-Flow Calibrator Offers Easy Operation
Two hand-held instruments from InterTech Development quickly and accurately calibrate most makes of pressure-, flow- or vacuum-type production-line leak testers.
Leak test calibrations cut 60min of downtime
A combination of solid state capabilities for online recalibrations can eliminate up to 60 min of assembly downtime in each 8h shift using machines with leak testing stations.
The instrument also can automatically convert pressure drop data to display actual leak rate in standard cubic centimeters per minute (SCCM).
Test results reflect transducer accuracy of 0.05 psig, with transducer sensitivity and repeatability at 0.005 psig.
Transducer operates in self-check mode for fail-safe operation, and a seal-check feature monitors fixture integrity.
The unit automatically stores data for its last 100 tests (or since last reset, if less than 100), including date, time, station, part number, test value, and pass/fail.
Stored data can be recalled for display, printout or downloading to standard spread sheets.
The M-1045 also can perform statistical calculations on stored data to show Mean, Standard Deviation and Mean " Standard Deviation, providing information to help users detect and correct trends in the manufacturing process that tend to cause rejects.
Test program parameters entered via front-panel 20-key touchpad include fill-bypass-stabilize-test cycle times, min/max pressure limits, upper and lower accept/reject setpoints, and calibration value.
The unit can store and recall up to 99 test programs.
Touchpad keys also initiate various other function and display modes, such as seal check, utility functions and self-diagnostics.
Any or all test parameters and functions can be password protected against unauthorized operator changes.
Calibration is simple and automatic, initiated by a single touchpad keystroke, and using a front-panel plug-in calibration master.
Test cycles are initiated by touching the amber "testing" indicator, or can be initiated by remote devices via rear-panel input/output connector.
Also provided on the rear panel is a 220V, 1A relay output that enables the M-1045 to actuate remote indicators or other equipment, an RS232C port for interfacing with computer systems, and a parallel printer port.
The M-1045 is fully contained in a contemporary-design enclosure measuring only 6.54in (16.6cm) high x 12.63in (32.1cm) wide x 15.75in (40cm) deep, and is rated for operation in temperature range from 32 deg.F (0 deg.C) to 115 deg.F (46 deg.C).
Alternative models are optionally offered with Differential Pressure or Mass Flow leak-detection technologies, and with programmable pressure and/or temperature compensation capabilities.
In addition, InterTech Development Company can design, build or consult on development of specialized test fixtures for use with the M-1045.
Unit prices, functional features and dimensions will vary with the options selected.
