Turnkey Leak Testing System In 6 Weeks

An Intertech Development product story

A short-lead-time solution for 100% leak-testing of small/medium-size products or components means custom fixtures plus programmable instrumentation and controls in a compact, modular unit.

A short-lead-time solution for 100% leak-testing of small/medium-size products or components, from InterTech Development Company (IDC), offers custom fixtures plus programmable instrumentation and controls in a compact, modular unit.

TechStand offers the convenience and speed of dry-air testing with a choice of IDC's computerized pressure-decay, differential-pressure or mass-flow test instruments, for turnkey delivery within about six weeks of order date at a cost typically less than 25,000 dollars.

TechStand requires floor space only 3.5' wide by 3' deep, and accommodates test parts with footprints up to 8" square and weighing up to 10 lbs.

A maximum of 10 proximity-switch fixture inputs and up to six solenoid-valve air pressure channels are controlled by IDC's on-board M-3008 Sequencer, allowing automated multi-test sequences.

Fixtures, designed and built by IDC, are easily reconfigured or replaced for test-part changeovers.

Turnkey installation requires only connection to 110 Vac/60Hz power and 70 psig (min) compressed air.

For operator safety, controls are 24 Vdc, with two separated anti-tiedown palm buttons for start, plus separate emergency stop, reset and power on/off switches.

Clear plexiglas guard panels prohibit side and rear access to test area.

For ergonomic comfort, TechStand's fixture deck angle is user adjustable.

IDC dry-air leak detectors measure leakage rates of 0.1 sccm (standard cubic centimeters per minute) to 20 sccm.

Using a vacuum-fluorescent display and lighted indicators, these instruments report test parameters, dynamic test results, statistics and final accept/reject status; no operator judgement is required.

They also can store and recall up to 99 test programs for quick changeover among different production parts.

Test data can be stored and recalled for display, printout or downloading to standard spread sheets.

In addition, these instruments can perform statistical calculations on stored data to show Mean, Standard Deviation and Mean " Standard Deviation for Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality-management programs.

PC/PLC compatibility allows interfacing with machine controls, data highways or host computers.

Bi-directional interfaces allow these systems to receive downloaded information such as program modifications, in addition to providing test data to other devices.

The instruments are calibrated to NIST traceable standards, and instrument R and R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) of less than 5% is documented.

For networked multi-station testing, IDC's optional M-1065 Industrial CPU can link up to eight individual TechStand leak detectors to provide central storage and graphic CRT display of test data.

Built-in diagnostics minimize set-up time and provide error codes that simplify troubleshooting down to the component level.

Calibration is simple and automatic, initiated by a single touchpad keystroke and using IDC's CalMaster, a front-panel plug-in hand-held instrument that provides a direct and almost instantaneous digital readout.

Any or all test parameters and instrument functions can be password protected against unauthorized operator changes.
