An automated production-line assembly and test system from Intertech aids productivity and cuts costs by saving time and materials.

Automated production systems that combine assembly functions with in-process QC testing, custom-designed and built on a turnkey basis including specialized fixtures, are offered by InterTech Development Company (IDC) Assembly functions are interspersed with tests that sense missing, damaged or misorien ted parts, verify mechanical, electrical or electronic functions, or measure flow and leakage rates of internal passageways, valves, seals and external enclosures

Integrating these functions can boost productivity and cut costs by minimizing time and materials lost in rejects, scrap and rework, while improving quality control, parts handling efficiency and just-in-time capabilities.

Faulty sub-assemblies are sidelined for evaluation or corrective action before further time and expense are invested in completing a faulty product.

InterTech's assembly/test systems can store alternate test programs for quick changeover, and store test data for later display, printout or downloading to standard spreadsheets.

They perform statistical calculations on stored data to report Mean, Standard Deviation, and Mean +/-3 Standard Deviation, for Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality-management programs.

These systems also offer PC/PLC compatibility for interfacing with machine controls, data highways or host computers.

Bi-directional interfaces allow them to receive downloaded information such as program modifications, in addition to providing test data to other devices and coordinating test-program selection with automated pallet conveyors delivering parts for testing.

Leak/flow testing capabilities are offered in all familiar dry-air test technologies including Pressure Decay, Differential Pressure and Mass-Flow, plus a new "downstream" version of Mass-Flow that excels in low-flow/small-leak sensing.

Helium Mass Spectrometry testing is available for critical systems where extremely low leak-rate specifications are needed.

Dry-air test parameters can be correlated with hydraulic leak and flow characteristics to reliably simulate wet testing.

This avoids the extra handling, clean-up and safety requirements associated with test procedures using various fluids such as fuels and oils as the test medium.

Test systems also can accommodate high-pressure test environments and provide for individual-part temperature compensation.

Built-in diagnostics minimize set-up time and provide error codes that simplify troubleshooting down to the component level.

Calibration is simple and automatic, initiated by a single touchpad keystroke, and using a front-panel plug-in calibration master.

Any or all test parameters and instrument functions can be password protected against unauthorized operator changes.

InterTech also provides computerized leak- and flow-rate testing instruments for stand-alone, single-station testing, or integrating into users' proprietary test systems.
