Splitter boxes survive harsh wash-downs

Splitter boxes withstand a good hosing down, as of all industrial environments, harsh washdown areas can be the toughest conditions for control equipment to survive.

Leading sensor manufacturer ifm electronic has expanded their award-winning ProcessLine range with more splitter boxes well able to stand a good hosing down as of all industrial environments, harsh washdown areas can be the toughest for control equipment to survive and most just are not up to the job Two stable mates have joined the first unit introduced last year One is another AS-interface splitter, while yet another is a splitter box for conventionally-wired devices

All share the stainless steel housing rated to IP69K (high temperature, high pressure spray) in a shape designed to minimise bug traps.

Complementing the original 4I/3O AS-i unit is an 8-way passive AS-i splitter for the connection of devices with integrated AS-interface, and an 8-way splitter for standard units on standard wiring.

The latter is available with a multi-core PVC cable in lengths designed to reach to the panel.

Now into its second decade, the Actuator-Sensor Interface (AS-i) has established itself in many areas of production.

One of the main advantages of AS-i is the reduction in wiring with the dramatic cost saving which that brings.

The number of wires is lessened, wiring faults virtually eliminated ifm electronic offers the widest range of AS-interface components, from stand-alone controllers, bus interfaces and power supplies through to all the field devices necessary for connection of inputs and outputs.
