Optical distance sensor now measures up to 6m
The O1D optical distance sensor from ifm electronic now has a Class 1 laser that enables it to measure up to 6m and background supression extends to 100m.
The O1D155 optical distance sensor from ifm electronic now has a safe Class 1 laser source to measure up to 6m.
ifm electronic's popular O1D laser distance sensor is now available with a safe Class 1 laser source.
The O1D155 retains the features and performance of the existing O1D versions, except that now, beyond 6m, the background is suppressed up to 100m.
Under EN60825-1 a Class 1 laser is deemed safe for the human eye under all operating conditions, making it increasingly popular for sensing applications, said ifm.
The O1D155 offers two selectable switchpoints, or a single switched output combined with a scalable analogue signal.
The robust diecast housing only 42mm wide by 45mm high and 52mm deep.
It also uses ifm electronic's award-winning pmd chip, an innovative method of calculating distance by time-of-flight all on one chip.
Ifm told manufacturingtalk that the chip keeps the dimensions of the sensor to a minimum and keeps the cost down.
All O1D versions are fitted with the standard M12 industrial connector, and feature a four-digit LED display panel on the top of the unit, next to the setting buttons.
