Pump supplier sought non-bespoke IT system
Following a period of rapid growth, a pump supplier had to upgrade its IT system as its existing software did not have enough functionality and it did not want a bespoke solution.
The company, whose history goes back as far as 1858 became part of the international furniture manufacturing group, Steinhoff, last year.
Steinhoff has three sites in the UK; Steinhoff UK, who import and distribute lounge suites and cabinet furniture, Pritex, who manufacture foam products for the airline, automotive and furniture markets and Relyon itself.

Syspro helps Panaz get fresh designs
A 24-user Syspro system from Information Engineering is set to help fabric design and print company Panaz improve control of its operation.
Neither could it provide a strategic group wide across three Steinhoff sites (over 170 users).
Rather than automatically opt for their existing suppliers upgrade path, Relyon went to the market to review the available alternatives.
The company first approached Information Engineering in November 2001 and started to implement their system in February 2002.
Within just five months Information Engineering had fully installed their system in the first of the three sites.
David Shaw, Relyon's financial director said: "We had been using our MRP system for six years and it could no longer deliver the performance we needed.
When we first approached Information Engineering we compared their system with those of both our existing supplier and others on the market.
Information Engineering's Impact Encore package quickly became our preferred choice.
We expect the role out across all three sites to take less than 18 months and I am absolutely confident Information Engineering's system will bring significant improvements to our customer service, as well as simplifying our working practices so we can improve internal controls.
The big benefits for us will be a reduction in stock levels and vastly improved customer lead times." Information Engineering's managing director, Pat McCarthy said: "We are delighted to be working with Relyon.
Our system was already installed in over 40 furniture manufacturing sites world wide when Relyon first approached us, so we were in a good position to fully understand their business problems.
Impact Encore uses the latest web-enabled technology and it's sophisticated CRM, e-Commerce and Advanced Planning and Scheduling functionality provides the sort of benefits usually only associated with more expensive systems.
It is typical for our customers to receive return on investment within 6 months and many have seen work in progress fall by 50% or more, and lead times have been reduced by as much as 40%.".
