ASG Group in Derby has signed a 15-user deal with Information Engineering for its SYSPRO ERP and APS system.

ASG Group in Derby has signed a 15-user deal with Information Engineering for its SYSPRO ERP and APS system The deal is worth over GBP 100,000 and the system is expected to be fully implemented within six months

ASG is a family owned and managed business, manufacturing tailored accessories for the automotive sector - its range includes nudges bars, dog-guards, roof racks and side steps.

ASG supplies the original equipment market and its customers include Land Rover, Honda, Volvo, Daimler Chrysler, Volkswagen, Toyota and Mazda.

The company turns over GBP 7 million and is currently expanding the manufacturing facility on its 2.5 ha site in Derby - two new factory units are under construction.

ASG was forced to seek a new ERP solution because support for its existing system - Dema, now part of the Ramyses group - was about to end.

The company particularly wanted a system that offered advance planning and scheduling (APS) functionality because all its scheduling was done manually, using a paper-based system.

Bruce Allman, managing director of ASG says, "we looked at a few suppliers and eventually short-listed two companies (Information Engineering and Made2Manage).

"We originally approached Information Engineering because we'd read a lot about them in the press - in particular a case study on one of their customers in the same market as us.

The thing that really made the difference in the end was that Information Engineering was willing to introduce us to customers already using their SYSPRO APS system." (Allman visited Information Engineering customers Hewland Engineering and Dzus Fasteners).

"Suppliers all make grand claims about their software, says Allman, "but you can't fake satisfied customers.

It was very reassuring for us to see the software being used effectively - we particularly liked the ease of use of the tracking modules and the way the operatives on the shopfloor used that part of the system - it was all touch screen controlled; very slick, quick and responsive." Information Engineering can integrate SYSPRO with other best-of-breed software, including CAD, HR, warehousing and logistics.

About SYSPRO - SYSPRO (previously known as Impact Encore) is a manufacturing and distribution software solution for mid-range companies.

There are more than 600 installations of SYSPRO in the UK alone, with over 6,000 worldwide.

In recent years, the SYSPRO system has grown in response to customer demand, to include sophisticated ERP, CRM, APS, e-Commerce and accounting functionality.

It was voted the leading system in its class for user satisfaction in a survey of ERP users conducted by Benchmark Research*.
