Miniature guiding carriages are
preloaded
Igus has designed its DryLin N17 Preload miniature guiding carriages to meet all the requirements of small mechanical handling units, laboratory and medical equipment and automation machines.
igus has designed its newly developed DryLin N17 Preload miniature guiding carriages to meet all the requirements of small mechanical handling units, laboratory and medical equipment, automation machines as well as for the specific requirements of the packaging industry The zero-play, lightweight and corrosion resistant linear system consists of a carriage running in an anodised aluminum C-profile rail

Profile roller energy chain is fast and quiet
For transmitiing energy and data to indoor and outdoor crane equipment and conveyor systems, Igus has dveloped its 'System P4' roller energy chain for even quieter operational smoothness.
Machine tool control cables take high loads
Machiner tool control cables take high loads Energy chain manufacturer, igus, has introduced machine tool control cables for dynamic applications with high cycle rates under high loads.
The significant design feature of this new carriage is the integrated spring element, which provides a slight preload and therefore guarantees zero play, as well as giving absolute precision during the application of minor loads.
The high-performance polymer iglidur J slide carriage material achieves low friction and wear values.
This material also offers significant vibration damping and quiet running characteristics, without any lubrication.

Energy chains investigated for vibration
RWTH Aachen recently carried out a study, 'Vibration investigations on energy chains', which showed that igus' E6' energy chain exhibited minimum vibration and maximum smooth running.
Why oil or grease bearings - go plastics
Igus reported that a recent study found half of machinery lubricants seep into soil and water or evaporates, whereas tribo-optimised plastics bearings need no oil or grease.
This, combined with the anodised aluminum profile, results in a corrosion-proof and very lightweight guide system with a width of 17 mm and a height of 6 mm.
The carriage weighs just 1.7 g and, at 150 g/m, the rail is also extremely lightweight.
However, rail lengths of up to 2 metres are available ex stock, and the static load in each direction is rated at 50 N.
With the DryLin N17 Preload, igus is now offering a tailor-made solution for a growing market.
In addition to the technical advantages, there are also the cost advantages provided by the mass production process, the entire carriage is manufactured by injection moulding.
Furthermore, igus is the only manufacturer of sliding bearings to offer their customers total predictability and life calculations.
If the customer specifies the load as well as the dimensional information for their particular design, igus will calculate the required driving force and the expected lifetime for any sliding bearing application within two hours.
For anyone in a real hurry, an expert system will calculate this data on the company's website, www.igus.co.uk, or on its freely available xiglidur CD-ROM.
Customers who have already experienced these advantages are now using this service regularly.
All components are available ex stock and can be delivered within 24 hours direct from igus UK.
Matthew Aldridge, Product Manager for the igus UK bearings division is excited about the potential applications for the new DryLin N17 Preload system.
He says, "We already have a number of high volume customers for this product in the aerospace and electronics handling sectors and the interest from other industries is very encouraging indeed.
We are finding that the predictability of igus bearing systems gives customers the confidence to change. Request a free brochure from Igus UK ...
