Flexibility And Better Sealing For More Packs
Ilapak's new PC controlled Vegatronic 2000 vertical form fill and seal machine offers greater flexibility, improved sealing quality and a more robust, modular construction.
Applying wrap-around labels to tapered bottles
Following extensive packaging trilas, Smith and Nephew Consumer Products selected an ALS 600 labelling machine for processing tapered bottles at its Corby manufacturing plant.
Print and apply labelling is ERP-enabled
Fifteen years of unwavering reliability meant a polish manufacturer had no hesitation in selecting a complete ERP-enabled print and apply labelling system from the same supplier.
The Delta flow-wrapper achieves speeds of 150 packs per minute, around double the speed of Kerrygold's previous flow-wrapper and is currently wrapping blocks of cheese in sizes from 200g packs to 1kg packs, which are supplied to major retailers and cash and carries.
These are sold under the Kerrygold brand.
The Delta 3000 HSR features a long dwell-sealing system to ensure high integrity, hermetic sealing to produce consistently high quality packs with a longer shelf life.
Carl Ravenhall, Kerrygold production director, said: "To meet the growing demand for our products we needed a machine capable of high speeds, top quality packs, low leakage rates, quick product changeovers and machine flexibility.
A problem with many packaging machines is that as you increase speed, seal dwell time is reduced, compromising pack quality and increasing leakage rates.
The Delta's long dwell sealing system overcomes this problem, so while having doubled throughput to 150 packs per minute, we maintained integrity and sealing with half the previous leakage rate." Having also installed the Vegatronic 2000, Kerrygold has also increased throughput on its zipper pack line by approximately 33 per cent.
The versatility of the Vegatronic also means the company can produce up to 20 different pack formats to meet market requirements.
