ILOG is to supply proALPHA Software with ILOG optimisation components for its new proALPHA Advanced Planning and Scheduling solution.

ILOG, a leading supplier of enterprise-class software components and services, today announced that proALPHA Software, a German provider of complete business software solutions for medium sized manufacturing and trade enterprises, has selected ILOG optimisation components for its new proALPHA Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) solution Enabling real-time comprehensive resource planning with ILOG Solver and ILOG Scheduler, proALPHA APS can help customers maximise resource utilisation and ensure on-time product delivery in complex production environments

Prior to the new proALPHA APS-ILOG solution, resource planning was less accurate and could not be accomplished in real-time.

Consequently, resource balancing was performed manually.

This lack of automated planning led to considerable weaknesses in meeting the supply chain's Key Performance Indicators, and in meeting customer delivery schedule requirements.

proALPHA APS customers can now tailor planning according to their specific needs.

They can also plan new orders and make changes to existing orders quickly and flexibly without impacting the entire production flow.

Users can be assured of meeting delivery schedules, yet able to change the product description and quantity.

At a time when customers demand that orders be delivered rapidly, this enhanced planning capacity enables manufacturers with a valuable competitive advantage.

Wolf Werkzeugtechnologie, a German cutting tools manufacturer, is a pilot customer of the new ILOG-powered proALPHA APS.

For Wolf, reduced delivery time is the most critical competitive advantage.

The manufacturer is using proALPHA APS to respond very rapidly with precise deadlines to customer order requirements.

Wolf uses the proALPHA solution to simulate production options by analyzing the impact of specific deadlines on the overall production, including related costs.

Wolf can then commit to its customers with deadlines that respect its own production and costs constraints.

Frank Stenshorn, Factory Manager at Wolf, says: "Thanks to this tool, we can accept more orders without having to hire more staff or purchase more machinery.

It is a low-cost investment that increases our capacity utilisation.

We were already good beforehand; now I'm expecting our productivity to increase five to ten percent." Wolf also expects the project to pay off in less than a year.

ILOG optimisation enables better resource management - like many state of the art manufacturers, Wolf required integration of all steps in supply chain planning in order to synchronise the availability of resources and optimise allocation of resources against specific goals.

As the core element of the proALPHA solution, ILOG Solver enables multi-resource planning and real time optimisation, resulting in controlled management and adherence to delivery, dates, inventory and services.

Over 1,000 global corporations and more than 300 leading software vendors rely on ILOG's business rules, optimisation and visualisation technologies to achieve dramatic returns on investment, create market-defining products and services, and sharpen their competitive edge.
