Inks meet aerospace product marking standards
To meet the demands of US, Canadian and European aerospace corporations for reliable part marking by their contractors, Imaje offers a range of inks for use with its ink jet printers.
Food manufacturer crisps up its date marking
Giles Foods has tried most types of coders and printers to apply 'use by' dates and batch numbers to product packaging and have now standardised on the Imaje S7 deviated inkjet printers.
Because the safety controls and cut-outs are used to minimise the risk of damage or fire in the event of misuse or malfunction, all of St Davids' production has to be coded to meet B.E.A.B.
or other national authority specification.
In addition to defining that the units must be traceable, the specification requires that the coding withstand a rigorous "rub test" to ensure that the coding will not become illegible during normal use.
It was the quality of the Imaje inks, combined with the clear printing of the S4+ onto the different materials used for the cut-outs, which impressed Works Services Manager, Alan Walters.
"We have to code every unit with a batch and serial number, a date code and a customer code in a very small area and the Imaje printers do this reliably at speed to match our automatic assembly machines.
An added benefit is the water flushing of the printheads which eliminates the fumes produced by printers which use solvent flushing." St Davids have five Imaje S4+ printers for printing yellow ink onto black components and one, older S3 for printing black onto white components.
