Food manufacturer crisps up its date marking
Giles Foods has tried most types of coders and printers to apply 'use by' dates and batch numbers to product packaging and have now standardised on the Imaje S7 deviated inkjet printers.
Jorn Schmoldt, Imaje's design manager, said: "This award has, I think, resulted in a pride within the company and especially for everyone that has been involved in the project.
It is a proof of our capacity to create innovative products and the fact we are way ahead of our competitors in developing products in-line with users needs.
It is a great honour that an organisation, like the Red Dot, that is not within our industry, has recognised the Imaje 2000.

Ink jet printers code 500,000 units/week

To be compared with totally different products and win, makes the award an even greater achievement." The international Red Dot jury consisted of several designers who assessed products against such criteria as the degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomic value and durability.
The Red Dot organisation wrote about the Imaje 2000: "The Imaje 2000 labelling system is designed user-friendly.
Key features of the unit are easy installation, operation and maintenance, resulting in low operational costs.
The modular construction of the system allows an adaptation and installation of the unit to the respective production requirements in a vertical, as well as horizontal arrangement.
The different modules can easily be exchanged or supplemented.
This, and the use of high quality materials, guarantee a long life cycle and an environmentally sound operation.
Due to its compact design, the unit can be integrated in to any production line without any problems.
The system software provided and an integrated web server allow an easy installation and system update in any location." Imaje said that in today's marketplace, there will always be manufacturers who can offer products for less money.
Yet, to succeed and to win market share and margin, Imaje wanted to deliver customers something better, something that clearly was different to what the competition could offer.
Goran Telhage, Imaje's product manager commented: "Due to its design architecture, the Imaje 2000 Series is currently the best product on the market for secure identification of cartons and pallets throughout the supply chain." Jorn Schmoldt concluded: "For me, the award emphasises the importance of design and the designer's function to keep the different parts of product development together and to always keep in mind to make the product user-friendly.".
